Achieving Full Accreditation is a significant milestone for any educational institution. This guide walks through each stage of the CGAPUCA journey — from provisional status through the rigorous audits that earn the highest tier of recognition.
The journey typically begins with Provisional Accreditation: a preliminary status for new institutions, valid for one to two years, requiring proof of foundational compliance before full evaluation. Provisional status lets institutions recruit students and build track record while preparing for the complete review.
Full Accreditation is the highest tier of recognition, awarded after rigorous audits including DARC/BIHEB reviews, and is renewable every five years. The evaluation covers institutional governance and mission, academic quality and faculty standards, student support and learning resources, research and community impact, compliance mechanisms, and documentation quality.
Preparation is everything. Institutions that succeed treat the self-study report as a genuine institutional audit rather than a marketing document — the assessors' section-by-section review rewards candor and evidence over polish.
Once granted, Full Accreditation unlocks the full suite of CGAPUCA services: certificate issuance with public verification, participation in the partner network, and access to post-accreditation sustainability training that keeps standards high between review cycles.
